Oaty Biscuits

These are a bit like hobnobs, but fat. Fat hobnobs.

4oz butter
4oz sugar
1 good tbsp golden syrup
1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
1 tsp water
4 oz porridge oats
4oz self-raising flour

180 degrees

-Heat the first 5 ingredients in a pan over a low heat - mix until smooth.
-Add the oats and flour - stir until the mixture is fairly thick (like stodgy porridge) and take off the heat.
-At this point you could stir in other ingredients such as chocolate, dried fruit, crystallized ginger, etc, or allow to cool then add chocolate chips if you want to make choc chip cookies.
-Roll spoonfuls of the mixture into balls and place onto a baking tray (lined with baking paper) spaced well apart.
-Bake for about 10 minutes at 180 degrees. The cookies should be just browned but still quite soft when they come out of the oven, they will firm up once they're cool.
